Vice PresidentGretchen Long is an Assistant Professor of History at Williams College, where she teaches courses in African American history, women’s history, and American medical history. She received her B.A. from Wesleyan University in 1989 and her Ph.D.in History from the University of Chicago in 2004. Her current research interests center around the role of medical practice in African American history and she is particularly interested in African Americans’experiences, both as patients and as caregivers, from the Civil War through the early years of the twentieth century.
