2 SALE EVENTS in the 2012 year! The 2nd annual ABC LINENS SALE will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 10am to 1pm. The incredibly popular 19th annual ABC CLOTHING SALE will follow two weeks later, on Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 9am to 2pm.
The ABC Clothing Sale has grown to be a gigantic annual event that offers gently used men’s, women’s, and teen clothing, shoes, and accessories including household linens - all at incredibly reasonable prices. The sale is held on the last Saturday of September at the First Congregational Church in Williamstown. This annual fundraiser provides a way to donate items that are in nearly-new condition, having a direct impact on the success of a local organization. The clothing and merchandise quality is exceptional; the prices are phenomenally low.
Merchandise includes sweaters, jeans, suits, purses, jewelry, costumes, vintage wear, shoes, athletic wear, scarves, gloves, hats, socks, ski wear, fleece, comforters, blankets, sheets, towels, and miscellaneous gift items. The more intimate “Red Carpet Room” is a boutique collection of the outstanding clothing at slightly higher prices.
Over 150 community volunteers make the sale possible: collecting clothes, sorting, washing and ironing, tagging and sizing, transporting to the Congregational Church, and then arranging and selling. Volunteers provided food for sale staff followed by a tremendous clean up. In addition to residents and merchants, we had help from students and alums of MCLA, Mount Greylock Regional High School and Williams College. The MCLA Latin American Society, Williams College men’s and women’s athletic teams, and Greylock ABC students helped with heavy lifting.
Remaining clothing was donated to various charities: Goodwill, Suit Yourself, and several villages in Malawi.
The ABC Clothing Sale was first held in 1994 and has grown each year; the gross proceeds from each sale held since 2008 has topped $30,000.
