ABCHandbook2009-2010Greylock ABC provides college preparatory education with the resources of Mt. Greylock Regional High School and the local community. The program offers academic support through the Academic Coordinator and Academic Mentors, Academic Advisors, and Williams College students. Greylock ABC also provides assistance with the college application process, including college visits when possible. With this in mind, the program is set up to maximize the educational experience offered at Mt. Greylock and in the community.
Greylock ABC students are required to select a challenging curriculum with all required academic courses plus electives. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the honors and advanced placement courses offered at Mt. Greylock and, in some cases, students have the opportunity of taking courses at Williams College. The Academic Coordinator in consultation with the student’s Academic Advisor must approve each student’s course selection for the coming year.
Greylock ABC students are required to maintain a B minus average in core academic subjects.
Establishing a standard for community living within the house is an important aspect of the program. Students are expected to not only live in a house with seven other students but also maintain a level of respect, open-mindedness, and commitment to the development of positive relationships with their housemates, Resident Directors, and all those associated with the program.
Greylock ABC has established a number of ways to help secure a successful program. It is important that students as well as parents understand their role in adhering to the policies and procedures that will help make the program successful.
The Student Affairs Committee has completed their excellent work on the 2009-2010 Student Handbook. The complete handbook may be downloaded as a PDF file.
